Alzheimer's is a type of dementia that affects memory, thinking and behavior.🩺🚫

Eventually as it progresses and hampers daily routine chores as well.😨


What happens exactly⚠️

Brain proteins fails to function properly which hampers neurons to function well and this eventually triggers the following events.

The damage usually starts in the brain which takes care of cognitive functions


It is a progressive disease.


Symptoms:

  • Brain cant retain new information.

  • Memory loss and confusion

  • Disorientation about time/place/events or people around

  • Mood or Behavior changes

Risk Factors:

  • Age: 65 + and above are usually affected.

  • Family history and genetics: Having past history of similar complaints in the family.

  • Down syndrome: Existing Downs syndrome makes you more prone for Alzheimer's.

  • Sex (M>F): Yeah, Males usually are more affected than females.

  • Head trauma: Past history of head injury makes you more prone

  • Excessive alcohol/tobacco consumption.

  • Poor sleep patterns

  • Poor Lifestyle

How to Prevent:

It can be prevented 😍 by following things:

📍Exercising regularly

📍Eating a diet of fresh produce, healthy oils and foods low in saturated fat.

📍Following treatment guidelines to manage high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol

📍Avoiding smoking and alcohol

📍Lifelong learning

📍Meeting friends and laughing with them
